Insurance Advisernet Authorised Representatives recently made one of their largest donations through the Insurance Advisernet Foundation – presenting a cheque for $20,000 to beyondblue CEO Georgie Harman.

Since it was established in October 2000 beyondblue has been dedicated to reducing the impact of anxiety, depression and suicide in Australia. Its ongoing vision is for everyone to achieve their best possible mental health, and the Insurance Advisernet Foundation’s donation will help beyondblue keep working towards this goal in 2017.

“According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, approximately three million Australians are experiencing the effects of anxiety or depression at any given time,” said IA Foundation Chairman, Ian Carr on announcement of the donation. “That’s an alarmingly high figure, as is the fact that, on average, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 8 men will experience some level of depression in their lifetime.”

The $20,000 donation will be used to help fund contacts to beyondblue’s 24/7 phone and online Support Service – which is staffed by mental health professionals. The service received more than 160,000 calls and web chats from people in need to mental health support in 2016.
